The guides, articles and answers on this Site are general information for homeowners and businesses in King County. They are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a qualified technician.
Disclosure: who carries out the restoration work
Seattle Water Damage Restoration runs a round-the-clock telephone line and an online request form for water damage in Seattle and King County. No one employed by Seattle Water Damage Restoration extracts water, sets drying equipment, takes moisture readings or rebuilds anything. Each request is passed to an independent, licensed local company, our partner for that job, normally whichever can schedule soonest, and that company alone answers for its inspection, its quoted price, its equipment and the quality of its work.
Washington requires construction contractors to register with the Department of Labor & Industries under chapter 18.27 RCW. We could not confirm whether extraction or drying on its own falls under that requirement, and we found no state licence for mold work. Neither Seattle Water Damage Restoration nor this website holds or claims any licence, registration, bond or insurance of its own. Plumbing repair, roofing and side-sewer work are separate trades done by separate contractors.
Licence and registration details for any stage of the work are given on request: phone (833) 490-5225 at any hour, or ask when the technician calls ahead. They are withheld from this site for privacy, and any number you are given can be checked on the L&I website before work begins. Prices shown on this site are estimates or national figures, confirmed in writing before work, and coverage under your own policy is your insurer's decision.

Prices are estimates
Price ranges are typical estimates for our service area in 2026. They are not quotes or offers. Your price is confirmed in person before any work starts.
Safety around water damage
Standing water can hide live electrical circuits: do not walk into a flooded room until power to that area is off. Sewage and floodwater (IICRC Category 3) can carry bacteria and viruses; keep children, pets and anyone with a weak immune system away, and do not handle contaminated materials without protection. Visible mold larger than a small patch should be assessed before anyone disturbs it. When in doubt, leave the area and call a professional.
Licensing, standards and insurance
Repair and reconstruction work in Washington is regulated by that state's contractor licensing board. The IICRC S500 (water damage) and S520 (mold remediation) standards are industry guidance, not government licenses. Insurance coverage is decided by your insurer under your policy; nothing on this Site is a promise of coverage or of a claim outcome, and information here is a summary, not legal or insurance advice.
